St. A Wins Home Opener, EHS Drops Soccer Match, T-town Beats Altamont

Effingham St. Anthony High School won its home soccer match opener Tuesday over Carlyle, 4-1.

Senior Alex Deters had a hat trick and senior Jake Brandt scored the other goal for the Bulldogs.

St. Anthony improves to 4-3-1 on the season.

 

At Effingham

Effingham High School played host to Mattoon and fell to the Green Wave, 9-0 in soccer competition Tuesday.

Ghere led the Green Wave with three goals while Lages added two goals and Perry and Carpenter had one each in the first half. In the second half, Ghere added another goal while Grasl also scored.

Effingham's Pasley had four saves. The match was the Apollo Conference opener. Effingham is now 3-4 on the season.

 

At Altamont

Teutopolis came calling and picked up both a varsity and junior varsity win over Altamont Tuesday.

T-town scored in the first half and that was the only goal that was needed in a 1-0 win in varsity play. The Wooden Shoes had 10 shots, five on goal and two saves.

Altamont had four shots, two on goal. Brenynne Abendroth had four saves. The Indians fall to 2-6.

In a junior varsity match, T-town took a 3-0 victory, scoring one in the first half and two goals in the second half.

Altamont dropped to 0-3.
