Wooden Shoes Move on to Sectional Final

MACON -- Teutopolis High School moved on to the championship of the Class 1A Macon Meridian Soccer Sectional with a 2-0 win over Virden North Mac Wednesday.

The Wooden Shoes took a 1-0 lead in the first half when senior Blake Kitten connected on a pass from Caleb Ordner.

The second goal came from foreign exchange student Ludvig Landgren. Landgren got a free kick and nailed it into the goal, giving the Shoes a 2-0 lead and the match. That was Landgren's 14th goal of the season for the Shoes.

T-town held North Mac's two best players scoreless. Dagan Bivin came into the meeting with 27 goals while Vincenzo Finocchiaro had 15 goals this year.

Goalie Shawn Zerrusen had 10 saves in the contest.

T-town now advances to face Beardstown Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The winner advances to the Granite City Super-Sectional Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest against either Belleville Althoff or Waterloo Gibault Catholic who will be playing for the sectional championship at the Waterloo Gibault Sectional.
