T-Town Wins Olney Regional in Overtime

Teutopolis won the championship of the Olney Class 1A Soccer Regional Saturday, defeating Mt. Carmel 3-1 in overtime.  The Shoes scored two overtime goals to claim the championship.

The Wooden Shoes trailed 1-0 and scored with only 10 minutes left in regulation to tie the score. The Shoes then scored a goal in each overtime to pull out their second regional championship. Goals came from Mitch Meinhart, Kyle Blievenricht and Ryan Westendorf with assists from Blievernicht and Jordan Niebrugge. Goalie Seth Belford had 12 saves.

The Shoes advance to the St. Anthony Sectional, where they play at 4 p.m. Tuesday against Carlinville.  The game will be played at Bulldog Field.
