EIU 2016 Soccer Schedule Released

Eastern Illinois men’s soccer will be at home for eight regular season matches and one exhibition match as director of soccer Kiki Lara announced the 2016 schedule.
 
The Panthers will play the first of two exhibition matches at home on Aug. 13 hosting Saint Xavier (Ill.).   The Panthers will then play an exhibition match at Drake on Aug. 17.
 
The regular season opens on Friday, Aug. 26 at Northern Kentucky with a 6 pm kickoff.  The Panthers return home to Lakeside Field for the first of four straight home matches.   EIU welcomes Milwaukee on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 12 pm for the regular season home opener.  Green Bay visits on Sept. 2 followed by Marshall on Sept. 4 as part of a men’s/women’s doubleheader at Lakeside Field.  The home stand wraps up on Sept. 14 with EIU hosting Saint Ambrose University from Davenport, Iowa.
 
Three of the Panthers remaining four home matches will be Summit League contests.  The Panthers host Denver on Oct. 1, IPFW on Oct. 23 and Western Illinois on Oct. 29.  The IPFW contest will be played on Sunday afternoon as part of EIU’s homecoming weekend.   The additional non-conference home match is against Valparaiso on Sept. 27.
 
EIU’s road Summit League schedule includes trips to Oral Roberts to open conference play on Sept. 24.   EIU also travels to Omaha and IUPUI as part of this year’s conference slate.  The Summit League Tournament will take place Nov. 10-12 in Denver, Colo.
 
Additional non-conference matches on this year’s schedule include trips to Western Michigan, Wright State, Missouri State, Northern Illinois and Cincinnati.
