The Midland United Soccer Club Knights (MUSC) started competing three yeras ago as a travel U-19 co-ed soccer team. The Effingham County based team went 19-1 in two seasons with two tournament championship titles.

Currently, the team has an 8-1 record with over half the season remaining. MUSC traveled to Broadlands and competed in a tournament Saturday.

"We got on the field at 10:30 a.m. and left the field at 10:45 p.m.," said Coach Eric Morales. "We played in the pouring rain and very muddy field. We beat Tuscola 9-0 then played a tough St. Joe team beating them 3-2. Then later we played St. Joe again for the championship and won 2-0 in the first annual Prairie Fire Soccer Tournament.

"It was a hard-fought tournament. Kudos to the whole team as they were all covered in mud from head to toe."
