Teutopolis, Effingham Claim Soccer Wins

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Teutopolis and the Wooden Shoes went home with a 4-2 soccer victory Thursday evening.

T-town's Kyle Blievernicht had a hat trick with three goals. Ryan Westendorf provided the fourth goal for the Wooden Shoes.

T-town also won the junior varsity contest 2-0.

At Altamont

Effingham edged Altamont 2-1 to set a new school record in wins for the season. The Hearts' Logan Talley scored in the first half with 38:06 left.

Altamont's Ryan Mayhaus came back to tie the score on a penalty kick with 24:12 left in the first half. The score remained knotted at halftime.

Then in the second half, Effingham's Matt Steffen scored on an assist by Ivan Carrillo with 23:29 remaining. The Hearts improve their record to 13-3-3 which breaks the old record of 12 in the 2009 season.

Altamont had six shots, two on goal and four keeper saves. Effingham had 12 shots, six on goal and two keeper saves.

Altamont was celebrating Senior Night with seniors Ryan Mayhaus, Simon Childerson, Reed Schulze, Klaiton Strullmyer, Bryce Kopplin, Vitor Celestino, Lucas Ahten, Brandon Walk and Alec Schwerman.

The Hearts also nabbed the junior varsity match 1-0 on a goal by Jacob Gadberry.
