St. Anthony, Altamont Win Soccer Matches

Charleston High School came calling at Effingham St. Anthony and handed the Bulldogs a 3-0 loss in soccer action Monday.

Charleston's Rhett Hallett opened the scoring in the match with a goal in the first half, assisted by Vance Bollinger. The second goal came unassisted by Frank Lanham to give the Trojans a 2-0 first half lead. The final goal came in the second half when Adam Barker scored.

The Trojans had 21 shots and nine saves. St. Anthony had 13 shots with 11 saves. The Bulldogs drop to 3-5-1 on the season and are back in action Wednesday hosting Decatur St. Teresa.

In junior varsity play, Charleston captured a 4-0 win. Scoring for Charleston were Brandon Peterson, Jason James with an assist by Sam White, Conner Griffin and David Salinas.

At Altamont

Altamont picked up its first victory of the season by edging Trenton Wesclin 1-0. The lone goal came with 29:18 on the clock in the first half by Ryan Mayhaus.

The Indians had 11 shots, four on goal. Childerson had 10 keeper saves. Trenton Wesclin had 15 shots, 10 on goal and three saves.

Altamont is now 1-7-1 on the season.
