Jets Fly Past Blackhawks
(Chicago, IL) -- The Jets scored three times in the third to seal a 3-1 win over the Blackhawks at the United Center. Andrew Ladd connected on the game-winner with just over seven minutes left. Blake Wheeler tied the game with his 20th goal of the year and later added an empty-netter to send Winnipeg to its sixth win in seven outings. Al Montoya turned away 33 shots in the win. Brandon Bollig gave Chicago the lead less than two minutes into the game. Corey Crawford stopped 18 shots for the Blackhawks, who have lost three straight.
Rangers Rout Devils At Yankee Stadium
(Bronx, NY) -- Mats Zuccarello scored twice to lead the Rangers to a 7-3 rout of the Devils at Yankee Stadium as part of the NHL's "Stadium Series." Dominic Moore, Marc Staal and Derek Stepan all tallied a goal and an assist for the Blueshirts, who snapped a brief two-game skid. Henrik Lundqvist kicked aside 19 of the 22 shots he faced in the victory. Patrik Elias scored a pair of goals and Travis Zajac also lit the lamp for the Devils, who had won their previous two. Martin Brodeur allowed six goals on 21 shots in two periods, while Cory Schneider denied four-of-five attempts in the final period.
Panthers Edge Red Wings In Shootout
(Detroit, MI) -- Nick Bjugstad scored the lone goal in the shootout as the Panthers edged the Red Wings 5-4 at Joe Louis Arena. Jesse Winchester, Drew Shore and Brad Boyes all scored in the third period for Florida, which has won three-of-four. Sean Bergenheim also tallied and Tim Thomas made 26 saves in the victory. Gustav Nyquist, Daniel Alfredsson and Riley Sheahan all lit the lamp in the second period, while Tomas Tatar scored in the third for the Wings, who had won their previous two. Jonas Gustavsson stopped 33 shots in the setback.
Oilers Tame Predators
(Edmonton, Alberta) -- Ben Scrivens made 34 saves and the Oilers went on to a 5-1 win over the Predators at Rexall Place. Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Justin Schultz and Ryan Smyth all came up with a goal and assist for Edmonton while Nail Yakupov also lit the lamp. The Oilers stopped a six-game slide. David Legwand had the lone goal for Nashville while Carter Hutton allowed all five goals on 27 shots. The Preds have lost three of their last five.
Canucks Clip Coyotes In OT
(Vancouver, British Columbia) -- Kevin Bieksa scored his second goal of the game in overtime to send the Canucks to a 5-4 win over the Coyotes at Rogers Arena. Chris Higgins ended with a goal and two assists while Zac Dalpe added a goal and helper. Jannik Hansen also scored for Vancouver while Roberto Luongo made 29 saves. The Canucks have won three out of four. Antoine Vermette had a hat trick for Phoenix, scoring once on the power play, once shorthanded and another at even strength. Shane Doan also lit the lamp while Mike Smith made 20 saves as the 'Yotes dropped their third in four games.
