Stars Clip Blackhawks In Chicago

(Chicago, IL) -- Antoine Roussel scored the deciding goal on a penalty shot in the third period as the Stars clipped the Blackhawks 4-3 at the United Center.  Valeri Nichushkin and Alex Chiasson both scored in the first period, while Erik Cole lit the lamp in the second for Dallas, which had lost four-of-five coming in. Kari Lehtonen kicked aside 47 of the 50 shots he faced in the victory. Patrick Sharp, Nick Leddy and Johnny Oduya all scored second period goals for the 'Hawks, who had their six-game winning streak snapped. Corey Crawford allowed four goals on 18 shots in defeat.


Sharks Edge Leafs

(Toronto, Ontario) -- Mike Brown and Joe Thornton both scored first period goals as the Sharks edged the Maple Leafs 4-2 at the Air Canada Centre. Brad Stuart lit the lamp in the second, while Logan Couture added an empty-netter with 1:24 left in regulation for the Sharks. Antti Niemi made 28 saves in San Jose's sixth straight win. Mason Raymond and Phil Kessel both scored in the second period for the Leafs, who have dropped five in-a-row. James Reimer allowed three goals on 40 shots in defeat.

Pens Edge Isles In OT

(Uniondale, NY) -- Sidney Crosby scored the game-winning goal 3:44 into overtime to lift the Penguins past the Islanders 3-2 at Nassau Coliseum.  Crosby scored twice, while James Neal also lit the lamp for the Pens, who have won four in-a-row and seven of their last eight overall. Evgeni Malkin tallied two assists and Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves in the victory. Kyle Okposo scored a pair of goals in a 3:02 span in the first period for the Isles, who have lost seven straight and 12-of-14. Anders Nilsson stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced in the setback.

Hurricanes Blow Out Caps

(Washington, DC) -- The Hurricanes scored three times in a four-minute span in the second period on their way to a 4-1 win over the Capitals at Verizon Center.  Jeff Skinner lit the lamp twice and added an assist for Carolina, which had lost six out of eight. Andrej Sekera and Jiri Tlusty also scored while Justin Peters made 26 saves for the 'Canes. Mike Green broke up the shutout for Washington on the power play in the third. Braden Holtby was yanked after allowing four goals on 23 shots. He gave way to Philipp Grubauer, who stopped all nine shots he faced. The Caps have lost five out of seven.

Blue Jackets Blank Bolts

(Columbus, OH) -- Sergei Bobrovsky and Curtis McElhinney combined to make 26 saves for the shutout as the Blue Jackets blanked the Lightning 1-0 at Nationwide Arena. Bobrovsky had to be helped off the ice in the third period with an apparent leg injury. Nick Foligno scored the lone goal in the second period for the Blue Jackets, who have alternated wins and losses over their last 10 games. Ben Bishop stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced for Tampa, which has lost two in-a-row and six of its last eight overall.

Canucks Get By Predators

(Nashville, TN)  -- Ryan Kesler scored two goals and Jason Garrison assisted on both, leading Vancouver over Nashville 3-1 at Bridgestone Arena. The Canucks got 30 saves from Roberto Luongo in the win. Vancouver moved to 15-10-5 with its third win in the past four games. Colin Wilson scored the Preds' only goal of the night. Marek Manzanec stopped 30-of-33 shots in the loss. Nashville lost its third in-a-row to fall to 13-12-3.

Coyotes Crush Oilers In Edmonton

(Edmonton, Alberta) -- Six different players scored goals as the Coyotes crushed the Oilers 6-2 in Edmonton. Mike Ribeiro and Mikkel Boedker tallied a goal and two assists each for Phoenix, which had lost four-of-five coming in. Shane Doan and David Moss both had a goal and a helper and Mike Smith made 31 saves in the victory.  David Perron scored twice for the Oilers, who have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. Devan Dubnyk was lit up for all six goals on 33 shots in defeat.

Kings Clip Ducks In Shootout

(Anaheim, CA) -- Dwight King scored the lone goal in the ninth round of the shootout as the Kings clipped the Ducks 3-2 at the Honda Center. Jeff Carter and Dustin Brown both scored in regulation for LA, which has won two in-a-row after losing four-of-five. Martin Jones made 26 saves plus stopped all nine shootout attempts in his NHL debut. Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry scored a goal each for the Ducks, who have dropped three of their last four. Jonas Hiller stopped 49 shots in the setback.


Senators Down Panthers

SUNRISE, FLA —  ( -- Just putting the puck on net paid off for Ottawa Senators defenseman Joe Corvo on Tuesday. Corvo picked up a goal and an assist on seemingly harmless wrist shots from the point to help lead the Senators to a 4-2 victory against the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center.


Blues Back On Ice Thursday

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues look to end a brief two-game losing streak on Thursday. They host the New York Islanders. St. Louis is 18-5-3 on the season.
