Area Schools To Participate in Trap, Skeet State Tournaments

High school athletes and teams representing schools from across the state are scheduled to participate at 2023 Illinois State High School Clay Target League State Tournaments in June.

The ILSHSCTL Trap Shooting State Tournament will be held at the Brittany Shooting Park in Bunker Hil June 3, featuring 920 athletes from 59 teams.

The ILSHSCTL Skeet Shooting State Tournament will be held at the Decatur Gun Club June 2, featuring 102 athletes from 12 teams.

The ILSHSCTL Sporting Clays State Tournament will be held at Joker's Wild Sporting Clays in Chesterfield on June 4, featuring 26 athletes from 4 teams.

The State Tournaments are proudly presented by SCHEELS. Additional sponsors include: The Bass Pro/Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, Outdoor News, Walker’s, Mark Zauhar, Sportsman’s Guide, U.S. Army, and Friends of NRA.

One thousand, five-hundred and forty seven student athletes representing 84 high school teams across the state participated in the Illinois State High School Clay Target League (ILSHSCTL) this spring. The ILSHSCTL is a part of the USA Clay Target League, which offers high school and college programs in 35 states.

Schools participating in Trap from the area are Effingham, Altamont, Beecher City, Cumberland, Dieterich, Newton, South Central, St. Elmo, Stewardson-Strasburg and Teutopolis.

Schools participating in Skeet from the area are Effingham, Altamont, Beecher City, Cumberland and Stewardson-Strasburg.
