Kings Clip Blues

(St. Louis, MO) -- Slava Voynov scored the game-winning goal eight minutes into overtime as the Kings clipped the Blues 3-2 in Game Five of their Western Conference quarterfinal series at Scottrade Center. Jeff Carter scored both goals in regulation and Mike Richards had two assists for LA, which takes a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven set. Jonathan Quick kicked aside 34 of the 36 shots he faced in the victory.  Alexander Steen and Alex Pietrangelo scored for the Blues, who have lost the last three games after taking a 2-0 series lead. Brian Elliott allowed all three goals on 25 shots in defeat. Game Six is Friday in Los Angeles.

 

Rangers Down Capitals

(New York, NY) -- Dan Girardi and Derek Stepan scored early in the third period to break a 2-all tie and give the Rangers a 4-3 win over the Capitals in Game Four of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinals.  The win evens the series at 2-2. Brad Richards and Carl Hagelin also found the back of the net for New York.  Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves in the win. Lundqvist says they haven't done anything special yet.

Mathieu Perreault registered a score and an assist for Washington, which hosts Game Five on Friday. Troy Brouwer and Karl Alzner also lit the lamp in defeat.  Braden Holtby stopped 30 shots for the Caps.

B's Edge Leafs To Take 3-1 Series Lead

(Toronto, Ontario) -- David Krejci scored the game-winning goal 13:06 into overtime as the Bruins edged the Maple Leafs 4-3 in Game Four of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal seres in Toronto. Krejci finished with a hat trick after scoring twice in the second period. Patrice Bergeron also lit the lamp in the second and Zdeno Chara tallied four assists for Boston, which takes a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven set. Tuukka Rask stopped 45 of the 48 shots he faced in the victory. Joffrey Lupul and Cody Franson both scored first period goals and Clarke MacArthur also tallied for the Leafs. James Reimer allowed all four goals on 45 shots in the setback. Game Five is Friday in Boston.

 

Ducks Drop Red Wings

(Anaheim, CA) -- Nick Bonino lit the lamp nearly two minutes into overtime to lift the Ducks to a 3-2 win against the Red Wings in Game Five of their best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinals. The Ducks are up 3-2 in the series. Kyle Palmieri and Ryan Getzlaf scored in regulation for Anaheim. Jonas Hiller stopped 29 in net for the win. Johan Frazen and Mikael Samuelsson both scored for Detroit, which hosts Game Six Friday. Jimmy Howard made 31 saves in defeat.

 


Bobrovsky, Lundqvist, Niemi Named Vezina Trophy Finalists

(New York, NY) -- Sergei Bobrovsky of the Blue Jackets, Henrik Lundqvist of the Rangers and Antti Niemi of the Sharks are the finalists for the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goalie. Bobrovsky went 21-11-and-6 with four shutouts.  Last year's winner, Lundqvist tied for the NHL lead with 24 wins. Niemi also won 24 games. The winner will be announced during the Stanley Cup Final.
