Newton Names HOF Classes For 2020-21

NEWTON -- Eight athletes were named to the Newton High School Hall of Fame during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

In 2020, Kelsi Geltz was named. She was a three year letterwinner in softball and volleyball, a two-time all-conference performer in softball and a three-time all-conference player in volleyball. She was the libero for the 2017 State third place team. She finished her career with over 1,000 digs.

Maddi Hemrich was a three-year letterwinner in softball and volleyball. She was the setter on the 2017 team that placed third at State and she was on three straight Little Illini Conference champion teams. She was eighth in assists in the state of Illinois.

Kyle Schafer was a two-time basketball Most Valuable Player and an all-conference performer. He scored the sixth highest single season point total in NCHS history while the Eagles went from six wins the year before to 19 wins in 2020.

Abby Stone was a three-year letterwinner, an all-conference performer and a state qualifier in cross country. She was a four-year letterwinner and a three time state qualifier in track including anchoring the 4x4 relay team that placed third at State.

The last member of the 2020 class was Jacelyn Street. Street was a four-year letterwinner in tennis and a four-time State qualifier. She was the Little Illini Conference singles champion three times, was an All-Stater three times and was a top 12 finisher her senior year.

Three competitors come from the class of 2021.

Lane Bradley is a four-year letterman in bass fishing and was Angler of the Year three times. He was a four-time sectional qualifier. He finished in the top three at tournaments in Newton, Springfield and Clinton.

Ross Farley lettered four times in both baseball and soccer. He was a first team all-conference performer in baseball as a senior. In soccer, he holds the records for goals in a season and goals in career.

Rj Lindemann was a two-year letterman in football as well as a First Team All-Conference performer. He was recognized as a member of the Illinois Football Coaches Association All-State team last year.
