Mia Totten Earns All Around Champion

Mia Totten, 9-year-old daughter of Ty and Mandy Totten of Altamont and third-grade student at Altamont Grade School recently competed in the Midwest Youth Rodeo Association Series in Cloverdale, Indiana and the IJRA Rodeo Series in Danville, Indiana.

The MYRA Rodeo Series has seven rodeos in the series, which are held at the C Bar C Arena in Cloverdale, Indiana whereas the IJRA Rodeo series has six rodeos in the series, which are held at the Hendricks Co Fairgrounds in Danville, Indiana.

Totten competed in the Little Wrangler Division in the areas of  Barrels, Pole Bending, Flag Racing, Texas 8 Barrels, Dummy Calf Roping, Dummy Steer Roping, Mutton Busting, Goat Tie and Goat Untie. Totten competed against 23 girls and 14 boys in her division to claim the title of All Around Champion at MYRA.

Totten, with her horses Hammer and Yadi, earned the coveted All Around Champion title, for the second year in a row as well as being named Champion in Flag Racing, Champion in Goat Untie, Reserve Champion in Goat Tie, Reserve Champion in Steer Roping, Third Place Overall Title in Calf Roping, Third Place Overall in Texas 8 Barrel Racing, Fifth Place Overall Title in Pole Bending, and Sixth Place Overall Title in Barrel Racing.

She received a $1,000 voucher to design her own saddle, belt buckles, tooled headstall and tie down, and professional photography photos. At the conclusion of the IJRA Rodeo Series, Totten was named Reserve All Around Cowgirl as well as being named Champion Flag Racer, Reserve Champion Barrel Racer, Reserve Champion Goat Untie, and Third Place Pole Bender. She received an embroidered saddle pad, tooled bronc halters, and tooled spur straps.

Totten is currently standing second in the nation for Rookie of the Year for the National Little Britches Association and will compete at nationals in Guthrie, Oklahoma on July 5-July 10. She is sponsored by Aces and Eights Western Store and Equinety and an ambassador for Equine Body Bling.
