Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams stepped in to serve as the National Hockey League team’s head coach in their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday night after interim coach Don Granato and assistant Matt Ellis were placed in the league’s Covid-19 protocol and were self-isolating.

The Sabres lost 4-0. Former Sabres coach Ralph Kreuger was fired last week.
