IHSA Approves Sectionals For Bass Fishing, Badminton

The Illinois High School Association Board of Directors met virtually for a special board meeting on February 19, where the Board approved two action items and acted on five appeals:

ACTION ITEMS

1. The Board approved a recommendation to hold a State Series Sectional round in Girls Badminton. The Sectionals will take place on March 25, March 26 or March 27. Whether the State Series will conclude with Sectionals or advance to a State Final round will be reviewed at the March Board of Directors meeting.

2. The Board approved a recommendation to hold a State Series Sectional round in Bass Fishing. The Sectionals will take place on May 6 with a rain date of May 10. Whether the State Series will conclude with Sectionals or advance to a State Final round will be reviewed at the March Board of Directors meeting.
 
APPEALS & HEARINGS

1. The Board sustained the Executive Director’s ruling on a student from Peoria (Notre Dame). The student was ruled ineligible for non-compliance with IHSA By-law 3.040 and its sub-sections.

2. The Board sustained the Executive Director’s ruling on a student from North Chicago. The student was ruled ineligible for non-compliance with IHSA By-law 3.022.

3. The Board sustained the Executive Director’s ruling on a student from Kankakee (Bishop McNamara). The student was ruled ineligible for non-compliance with IHSA By-law 3.040 and its sub-sections.

4. The Board sustained the Executive Director’s ruling on a student from Chicago (Fenger). The student was ruled ineligible for non-compliance with IHSA By-law 3.030 and 3.040.

5. The Board modified the ruling on as student from Wilmette (Loyola) who appealed an ineligibility ruling in October. Based on new information provided since that initial appeal hearing, the Board ruled the student eligible immediately.
