Claiming wins at the Centralia Halloween Doubles Golf Tournament were, left to right, Joseph Garland, Mark Jones and Hadley Majors. Not present was Cole Mintert.

Effingham players captured the championship in both divisions of the Centralia Halloween Doubles Disc Golf Tournament Saturday.

Joseph Garland and Mark Jones won the Professional Division with an -11 total, while Hadley Majors and Cole Mintert finished first in the Amateur Division at even par.

Garland and Jones’ Jungle Law team went 68-50=118, going -1 in the first round after dealing with a double OB quadruple bogey on their first hole of the day. Their -10 second round featured 13 birdies.

Jones had a big day putting, while Garland’s drives kept them in position to make those putts count.

The duo posted a nine-hole victory over the second place score of -2, while the third place finishers closed their day at even par.

Majors and Mintert’s Jungle Law Street Team won their division by six shots, going 78-51=129. The third place squad finished +9.

In addition to the team win, Majors won Closest to the Pin for all players in the first round, while Mintert won Closest to the Pin for all players in the second round.

All players competed in two 18-hole rounds, one on the Championship side and one on the Amateur side. To make things interesting, the tournament organizers had competitors play as follows: Holes 1-6 Best Shot Doubles; Holes 7-12 Alternate Shots; Holes 13-18 Best Shot Singles.
