Pandemic or no pandemic, the 27th Annual Carl P. Koerner Memorial Sports Spectacular went off without a hitch Thursday, and generated $45,000 each for the Effingham and St. Anthony school sports programs.

Koerner Distributor President Paul Koerner said the $90,000 contribution is the second highest amount ever, and brings the total contribution over the history of the tournament to more than $1.1 million.

Effingham Unit #40 Activity Director David Woltman said the revenues assist the sports program in various ways, and St. Anthony Athletic Director Kevin Palmer said the contribution is of particular benefit this year with the lack of revenue from events.

35 teams played in Thursday's tournament held at Effingham Country Club.
