The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without defenseman Dan Girardi indefinitely due to a lower-body injury. Girardi has already missed the past five games and the team didn’t say how long he might be out.


Islanders' Filppula Out For Four Weeks

The New York Islanders say that forward Valtteri Filppula will be out four weeks with an upper-body injury. Filppula has 35 goals this season and the four week time frame means he won’t return until after the playoffs have begun.


Red Wings' de la Rose Hospitalized

Detroit Red Wings forward Jacob de la Rose was hospitalized after having a cardiac episode during Tuesday night’s game. He was diagnosed with an accelerated heart beat and was sent to the hospital “for precautionary reasons.”


Howard Signs One-Year Extension

Goaltender Jimmy Howard has signed a one-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings. Howard has played his entire career with the Wings and will be back for his 14th season in the fall.
