Effingham's Best Wrestling Season Yet Comes to An End

The Effingham High School wrestling team saw their best season yet come to an end Saturday at the Mahomet-Seymour 2A Sectional.

Senior Tyler Marschewski and sophomore Ethan Huss advanced to final day action at the Sectional. Kendall Ballman saw his season end at 145 pounds on Friday. Eric Sills was an alternate at 138 pounds but did not get to compete.

Marschewski, at 160 pounds, was a Sectional qualifier all four years of high school. After advancing Friday, Marschewski lost twice on Saturday, 4-21 to Kevin Sanchez of Danville and 0-8 to Draven McDonald of Mt. Zion.

Huss, at 285 pounds, Saturday lost on a pin at 1:14 to Hayden Compass of Westville, and lost on a pin at 1:00 to Zach Knapp of Jacksonville.

Effingham ends its season with the most wins ever and finished 12-8.
