On a perfect day weather-wise, the 25th Annual Carl Koerner Sports Spectacular generated $95,000 for the Effingham Sportsbackers and the St. Anthony Booster Club.

The total raised means that each school's athletic program will receive $47,500.

The first 24 events raised about $900,000, so Thursday's total brings the amount raised by the Spectacular to around $1 million.

Paul and Phil Koerner wanted to thank the Country Club, longtime behind-the-scenes organizers of the event Mark Mayhood (who's been there since the start) and Troy Greene, Niemerg's Steak House, Martin's IGA, Jansen Cable Company, the Effingham New Car Dealers Association, and anyone else who contributes toward the effort.
