Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz was out of work less than three days. Trotz has been signed by the New York Islanders to a five-year deal said to be worth an average of at least $4 million per year.

The New York Islanders have moved eight more games of their regular-season schedule to their former home at the Nassau Coliseum, bringing the total to 20. The Islanders have played the last three seasons at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and are building a new arena at Belmont Park.
