Husted Drives Several Winners at State Fair

SPRINGFIELD -- Former Altamont resident Kyle Husted was among the winning drivers at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield Wednesday.

Husted took Captain Rhett to victory in the Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes Championship 3-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace. Husted went the distance in a sizzling 1:49.4.

He also had several other top finishes claiming first place in the Consolation 3-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace behind Slzburgerslzburger in 1:51.4. He finished in second place behind Kid Rocky in the 3-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace in 1:55.3. He got another second place finish, this one in the 2-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace behind Fox Valley Hijinx in 1:53.0. Another second place came in the 3-Year-Old FIllies Trot. He took Daisy Lou Duke to the finish in 1:53.4.

He was third with Cruzen Cassi in the 2-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot in 1:58.0. He had a fourth place finish with Trotting Grace in the 2-Year-Old Fillies Trot in 1:57.0. He was fourth behind Bands Houdini in the 3-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot in 1:58.4.

He finished fifth behind Not Me Gram in the Consolation Two-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace in 1:55.1. Sis Master finished sixth with Husted in the sulky in the 2-Year-Old FIllies Pace in 1:55.1. He drove San Antonio Rose to a seventh place finish in the 3-Year-Old Fillies Pace in 1:53.1.

C. Alan Finn drove Lilac Lurey to a sixth place finish in the Consolation 2-Year-Old Fillies Pace in 1:57.3.

Newton's Jared Finn finished third behind Cruzen Cassi in the 2-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot in 1:58.0. He took another third, this one behind Trixie's Jethro in the 3-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot in 1:58.4.He also drove Sis's Ellie Mae in the 3-Year-Old Fillies Trot where she finshed seventh in 1:57.3.
