Mike Wilson has been hired as athletic director at Teutopolis High School. The hiring occurred at a special meeting of the Teutopolis School Board Friday night.

Wilson is a former school teacher and administrator who also served as an assistant high school boys basketball coach at Teutopolis under former coach Andy Fehrenbacher. He is now in private business.

Wilson said he was approached by a group of Teutopolis Sportsbackers about applying for the AD's job, which is a part-time position. He said the plan is to see how things go this coming school year, to see whether the position works well as a part-time job. The duties will involve some hours in the office, along with supervisory duties at athletic events. He said he and Superintendent Bill Fritcher plan to meet this week to discuss the specifics of the job.

Andy Johnson had served as athletic director as well as assistant high school principal at Teutopolis until his departure for the Jasper school district, where he is serving as superintendent.

The Teutopolis board also filled a vacancy as junior high assistant softball coach, hiring Nicole Lustig to succeed Ron Cowman, who resigned the position earlier this month.
