Dieterich Holds HOF Induction Ceremony

Dieterich High School held its 2016 Hall of Fame induction ceremony Friday night, honoring former players, teams and friends of Dieterich basketball. Here are this year's inductees:

CLASS OF 2016 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

INDIVIDUALS:

Cindy (Bohnhoff) Hinterscher – Class of 1985

-          3-year varsity basketball starter where she finished with 936 career points

-          3-time MTC All-Conference Team (1983,1984,1985)

-          Team leading scorer both Junior and Senior years with 17.4 pts/game average

-          Won teams awards such as: Defensive Player, Field Goal Percentage, Free-Throw Percentage, and team MVP

-          1st female athlete to get an athletic scholarship to play women’s basketball at Lake Land College

-          Played Women’s basketball at Lake Land College where she averaged 10.9 pts and 11.9 pts per game her freshman and sophomore years.

-          Won the Laker Award for leadership and sportsmanship her freshman year.

-          MTC All-Conference Team in Volleyball (1985)

-          MTC All-Tournament Team in Volleyball (1985)

Jacob Hartke – Class of 1994

-          Scored 977 career points in basketball

-          3-Time MTC All-Conference Team in Basketball (1992, 1993,1994)

-          3-Time Dieterich Holiday Tournament All-Tournament Team (1992,1993,1994)

-          MVP Dieterich Holiday Tournament (1993)

-          2-Time MTC All-Tournament Team (1993,1994)

-          Newton Classic All-Star Game Participant (1994)

-          Team leader in Assists and Steals (1993, 1994)

-          Team leader in Rebounds (1994)

-          Team MVP in Basketball (1994) 

-          MTC All-Conference in Baseball (1994)

-          4-year letter winner in Baseball (1991,1992,1993,1994)

-          Team leader in Batting Average in Baseball (1991,1992,1993,1994)

 Cliff Westendorf – Class of 2006

-          Dieterich Boys’ Basketball 2nd All-Time leading scorer with 1,665 points

-          Dieterich Boys’ Basketball All-time leading Rebounder - 1,050 and Blocked Shots – 501

-          Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All –State 2nd Team (2006)

-          Associated Press All-State 3rd Team (2006)

-          Decatur Herald& Review Player of the Year (2006)

-          IBCA All-State Special Mention (2005)

CONTRIBUTORS:

Bud Ervin - (Clock/Announcer) – 2000 – 2015

-          Has served as a clock operator for Dieterich Athletics for more than 15 years.

-          Served as the “Voice” of Dieterich Athletics for more than 15 years while serving as game announcer for basketball and baseball tournaments and regionals.

TEAMS:

2003-04 Boys’ Basketball Team

The 2003-04 Dieterich Boys’ Basketball Team finished the season with a 25-3 record. Their achievements include: Cumberland Thanksgiving Tournament Champions, Dieterich Holiday Tournament Champions, and MTC Conference Champions. This team was considered one of the more talented basketball teams in Dieterich sports history. Three of its players have been inducted as individuals to the Dieterich Athletic Hall of Fame.
