SPRINGFIELD -- Several area horsemen competed in Harness Racing at the Illinois State Fair Thursday.

Newton's J.D. Finn finished second behind Balanced Game in the 2-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot. Finn also trains the horse. Majestic Emotion finished sixth in the same race with Altamont trainer Pamela Coleman.

Coleman also trains Powerful Felix that finished sixth in the 2-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot.

Newton's Jared Finn trained and drove Whosyoursfilly to a fourth place finish in the 3-Year-Old Fillies Trot. He also trains Wild Berry Muffler who took fourth in the 3-Year-Old Fillies Pace. J.D. Finn drove Wild Berry Muffler.

Nine races were contested before the weather forced the cancellation of the last four races including the 2-Year-Old Colt & Gelding Pace. In that race, Greg & Flex, a horse named after this station's Greg Sapp and George Flexter, was to compete for the $35,000 prize. That race will now be contested Sunday at Balmoral Park in Crete, south of Chicago.
