ALTAMONT -- The times got faster and faster during Tuesday's harness racing at the Effingham County  Fair. Tom  T. Tetrick picked up two victories and last year's driving award winner, Ronnie Gillespie, took the last race of the day.

Tetrick, whose brother Tim picked up the $1.5 million dollar Hambletonian Saturday behind Market Shore at the Meadowlands, drove to the opening victory in the Big 10 2-Year-Old Filly Trot, Division I. Behind Fox Valley Marsala, Tetrick went the distance in 2:09 2/5.  Tetrick's dad, Tom D. Tetrick, trained the winner.

Tetrick then came back in the sixth race, the Big 10 3-Year-Old Colt Pace, to win behind Legal Brief in 2:02. Legal Brief, trained by Altamont's Ray Hanna, went stride for stride down the homestretch before pulling out the win, the 10th career victory and third in a row this season.

Gillespie nabbed the final race of the day, the Filly & Mare Pace, Division II. The Mississippi resident took Mo Valley Maggie to the wire-to-wire win in 2:03 by a length. Gillespie has picked up a $50,000 win this season and a $100,000 win and took Mo Valley Maggie to her 17th career win and fifth victory this season.

In the second race of the day, the Big 10 2-Year-Old Filly Trot, Second Division, Sherrys Band won with Freddie Patton Jr. in the sulky in 2:05 4/5.

Buddy Simpson, an Illinois Hall of Fame Horseman, drove Accokeek Mercury to the win in the Big 10 2-Year-Old Colt Trot. Accokeek Mercury picked up its fifth win in a row and won in five lengths for the 82-year-old Simpson in 2:05 1/5.

Fox Valley Bonita won her fourth of five starts this season for driver Mike Brink in the Big 10 3-Year-Old Filly Pace, Division I. Hanna trained Fox Valley Bonita and co-owns along with former governor, Jim Edgar. Fox Valley Bonita took the lead early and went the distance in 2:04, winning her fourth of six starts this year.

The Second Division of the Pace went to Newton's J.D. Finn behind Wild Berry Muffler. The field went three wide around the first turn but Wild Berry Muffler found daylight down the stretch to win in two lengths, her first win. She was 0-18 coming into the race.

The Big 10 3-Year-Old Colt Pace went to Mac Made Her. Trained by Lisa Avenatti, Mac Made Her was driven by Earl Avenatti Jr.. The colt fired to the lead but Bubbles In The Tub moved up to take the lead past the half. Mac Made Her came back going stride for stride down the stretch and pulled out the victory by a head in 2:01.

The times of the day went faster and faster through the first seven races at  2:09 2/5, 2:05 4/5, 2:05 1/5, 2:04, 2:03 2/5, 2:02, 2:01 and finally finished out at 2:03. Racing continues Tuesday.
