Five-Goal Third Lifts Kings Past Blackhawks
(Chicago, IL) -- Jeff Carter recorded a hat trick during a five-goal third period as the Kings beat the Blackhawks 6-2 in Game Two of the Western Conference Final at the United Center. Jake Muzzin and Tyler Toffoli also lit the lamp in the third for LA, which evened up the best-of-seven set at one game apiece. The Kings host Game Three on Saturday. Jonathan Quick made 23 saves in the victory. Nick Leddy scored in the first period and Ben Smith tallied early in the second to give the 'Hawks a 2-0 lead before the Kings offense erupted. Corey Crawford allowed five goals on 30 shots in defeat.
Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw sat out of Game Two on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings causing him to miss his seventh consecutive game. The lower-body injury occurred in Game One against the Minnesota Wild on May 2. Shaw is hoping the extra days of rest will make him ready to go for the rest of the playoffs.
