Both of the local squads at the State Bass Fishing Tournament at Carlyle Lake had tough days during the first round on Friday.

South Central's team caught four fish with a total weight of 7-3/16 pounds, good for 18th place after the first day.

Newton's team had it even rougher, catching just one fish weighing 2-9/16 pounds, leaving them in 36th place after Friday action.

Fishers are back at it this morning in the final day of competition.
