Canadiens Clip Lightning In OT For 1-0 Lead

(Tampa, FL) -- Dale Weise scored the game-winning goal with 1:52 left in overtime as the Canadiens clipped the Lightning 5-4 in Game One of their quarterfinal series at Tampa Bay Times Forum. Brian Gionta and Lars Eller both tallied a goal and an assist for Montreal, which takes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven set. Tomas Plekanec and Thomas Vanek also lit the lamp, and Carey Price made 21 saves in the victory. Steven Stamkos scored twice, and Alex Killorn had a goal and a helper for the Bolts, who host Game Two on Friday. Anders Lindback allowed all five goals on 44 shots in the setback.


Penguins Take Game One From Jackets

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Brandon Sutter scored a little over eight minutes into the third period to lift the Penguins to a 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets at the CONSOL Energy Center in Game One of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series. Pittsburgh fell behind 3-1, but Beau Bennett and Matt Niskanen each lit the lamp on the power play in the first three minutes of the second period to tie the game. Marc Andre-Fleury turned away 31-of-34 shots in the victory. Columbus jumped out to the lead behind goals from Jack Johnson, Mark Letestu and Derek MacKenzie. Sergei Bobrovsky  gave up four goals on 32 attempts. Game Two is Saturday night in Pittsburgh.


Ducks Drop Stars

(Anaheim, CA) -- The Ducks scored three first period goals and held on to beat the Stars 4-3 in Game One of their Western Conference First Round series from Anaheim. Kyle Palmieri, Ryan Getzlaf and Mathieu Perreault all scored to put Anaheim up 3-0 heading into the second period. Matt Beleskey also scored for the Ducks, who are up 1-0 in the best-of-seven set. Frederik Andersen turned aside 32 shots in the win. Jamie Benn, Colton Sceviour and Tyler Seguin lit the lamp for Dallas. Kari Lehtonen stopped 31 shots in defeat.


Blackhawks Battle Blues

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Chicago Blackhawks begin the postseason tonight on the road against the St. Louis Blues. The best-of-seven matchup gets underway at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Network. The Blues took three of five in the regular season series.
