Recycling Conversation at Effingham Public Library

The Effingham Public Library will host a panel discussion about the current challenges facing recycling Tuesday, June 11 at 6 p.m. in the Workman Room.

The dilemma with what to do with items earmarked for recycling is playing out across the U.S. The country generates more than 250 million tons of waste a year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, with about a third of this recycled and composted.

Guest panelists Bill Elving and Nancy Totten, Centenary United Methodist Church, Brain Hayes, owner of Landfill 33, Chris Mette, representing recycling in Teutopolis, Sarah Ruholl Sehy with Effingham Recycles will share insights into how the situation developed and how our community can respond well.

No registration is required for this free event.
