Effingham Team, St. A, T-town Girls Advance in Golf

Effingham High School finished third to advance in the Class A Cumberland Girls Golf Regional Wednesday while Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis have individuals advancing. Action took place at Meadowview Golf Course in Mattoon.

Mount Carmel won the regional with a 380 total followed by Pana 399, Effingham 401, St. Anthony 404, Teutopolis 460 and Oblong 573.

Mount Carmel's Emma Kieffer, a sophomore, was medalist with an 83. Morgan Tewell, a junior from Red Hill (Bridgeport), also shot an 83 but Kieffer won on the first playoff hole.

Scoring for Effingham were junior Morgan Wilson with an 88, sophomore Hope Collier with a 99, freshman Alex Brummer with a 105 and sophomore Kaylee Tonn with a 109. Non-counting score was sophomore Madison Weis with a 122.

Advancing from St. Anthony were junior Madison Bushue with a 90, junior  Mariah Bushue with a 90, junior Kelsea Dust with a 111 and sophomore Abby Brown with a 113. Non-counting score was Kyla Burton 117.

Advancing from Teutopolis were Casey Willenborg 109, Haley Giles 111, Ellie Ruholl 113 and Katie Thoele 127.

Also advancing were Flora's Ginger Williams with a 93 and Marshall's Leighanne Hildebrand with a 111.

Those reaching sectional competition will compete at the Effingham Sectional Monday at the Effingham Country  Club along with competitors from Nashville, Sandoval and Herrin.
