URBANA -- Effingham St. Anthony took a one-stroke victory over second-place finisher Champaign St. Thomas More and a six-stroke win over Bloomington Central Catholic in boys golf competition Monday at the Urbana Country Club.

The Bulldogs tallied 170 followed by St. Thomas More 171 and Bloomington Central Catholic 176. St. Thomas More's Chris Tate was the medalist with a 38 followed by Central Catholic's Eric Gilpin with a 40 and St. Anthony's Nick Wortman with a 41.

Scoring for the Bulldogs along with Wortman were Connor Greene 42, Jared Hutchison 42 and Jeff Nieburgge 45.

At Urbana Country Club

At Effingham

Effingham tallied 150 to down Mount Zion 168 and Taylor 175 in a boys triangular meet at the Effingham Country  Club Monday.

Effingham's Jackson Wendling went two-under par with a 34 to claim medalist honors. Also scoring for the Hearts were Jake Linders 37, Callaway Smith 39 and Sean Sandifer 40.

"Jackson had another superb round of 34," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Callaway and Jake played good again. It was good for Sean to regain his earlier form and  Brandon Dahnke had one of his best varsity rounds with a 43.  We have played some great golf the past two weeks and hope to carry it into the Apollo Conference meet Friday."

The Hearts improve to 10-2.

At Effingham

Effingham -- Jackson Wendling 34, Jake Linders 37, Callaway Smith 39, Sean Sandifer 40, Brandon Dahnke 43, Reed Schafer 45

At Windsor

Altamont handed host Windsor a 181-215 loss in boys golf competition at Fox Prairie Monday.

Neoga's Luke Baker was medalist on the day with a 38. He was the lone Neoga player in the competition.

Scoring for Altamont were Griffin Jackman 43, Adam Mayhaus 44, Justin McGinnis 46 and Cameron Jackman 48. Non-counting score was Logan Deadmond 48.

Scoring for Windsor were Warner 39, Blackburn 55, Boyer 58 and VanHyfte 63. Non-counting scores were Gilbert 70 and Howard 74.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis scored 174 while Sullivan tallied 207 in a boys golf match at the Effingham Country Club Monday.

Medalist was T-town's Chad Zerrusen with a 41 followed by Ryan Sandschafer 43, Christian Deters 45 and Evan Schlink 45. Sullivan was led by Gavin Harlin with a 46.

T-town is now 8-7 on the season.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis -- Chad Zerrusen 41, Ryan Sandschafer 43, Christian Deters 45, Evan Schlink 45, Justin Kowalski 51, Brayden Bushue 56, Kyle Brumleve 57, Garrett Hoene 57, Evan Koester 58

At Urbana

The St. Anthony girls golf squad handed Champaign St. More a 186-216 loss. Co-medalists were St. Anthonyy's Madison Bushue and Kyla Burton with a 46 each. Also scoring were Mariah Bushue 47 and Abbie Schmidt 47. Non-counting scores were Kelsea Dust 47 and Abby Brown 50.

Scoring for St. Thomas More were Taylor During 49, Emily Roth 51, Sammi Floyd 57 and Ashley Green 59.

The Bulldogs are now 12-1 on the season.

 

At Pana

In girls competition, Effingham fell to host Pana 207-211 at Oak Terrace Golf Course Monday.

Medalist was Effingham's Morgan Wilson with a 46. Also scoring were Alex Brummer 49, Hope Collier 54 and Kaylee Tonn 62.

Pana scorers were Hannah Miller 47, Hannah Michael 47, Meredith Epley 54 and Miranda Foster 59. Non-counting scorer was Emily Hackler 60.

The Hearts are 5-5 on the season while Pana improves to 17-9.

 

At Teutopolis

In girls competition, T-town tallied 217 while Sullivan had a 242. T-town's Casey Willenborg and Sullivan's Emmalee Hortenstine had a 48 each for medalist honors.

Also scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Haley Giles 52, Ellie Ruholl 56 and Katie Thoele 61. Non-counting score was Lea Thoele 63.

Sullivan was led by Hortenstine 48, Alexis Matlock 60, Kali Forsyth 66 and Beretta Phelps 68. Non-counter was Jessica Yantis 70.
