"Congratulations to Mattoon," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "They had a great week winning in back-to-back nights. We shot 309 which is a great score at Paris. Jackson was incredible today and realy locked in, shooting four-under-par. Jake played the last four holes, three-under-par to finish fourth and Callaway finished in the top 10. Last year we won this tournament by a narrow margin and Matton turned the tables on us.The top four finishers were all Apollo teams. We will be back here in two weeks for the conference tournament and, hopefully, we play just as good or better."

Effingham competed in The Cup at Mount Zion Friday. The event is 18 holes two person best ball, 18 holes, two person alternative shot and 18 holes two person scramble.

Wendling and Dahnke had a 79 in best ball. Smith and Sandifer had an 89 in alternate shot. Linders and Schafer shot 69 in the scramble taking home first place because of a tie-breaking birdie on the hardest hole.

Mattoon shot 217 to win the event with Mount Zion and Charleston tied for second at 228. The Hearts finished with a 237.

"It's a fun tournament because of the different format," said Schafer. "Alternate shot is very difficult format to play. Congratulations to Jake and Reed as they played great golf. They really hung in there and were solid all day."

In a match Wednesday against Charleston, the Hearts edged the Trojans 161-163. Wendling had a 37, Smith a 39, Linders a 41 and Sandifer a 44. Non-scorers were Schafer 46, Matt Linders 51, Michael Woltman 54 and Dahnke 58.
