(Gullane, Scotland) -- Phil Mickelson birdied four of his final six holes en route to a fourth-round five-under to clinch his first Open Championship from Muirfield. Mickelson says he knew what he had to do going into the final round.

He finished three-under after entering the final round five strokes back of Lee Westwood.  Westwood collapsed down the stretch with a plus-four to end the tournament in a tie for third at one-over. Tiger Woods shot a three-over par 74 on Sunday to end in a tie for sixth at plus-two. Henrik Stenson was alone in second place at even par.
