The Friends of St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital invite you to be a part of the Fifth Annual Golf Benefit Friday, July 19 at noon at the Effingham Country Club.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. with a dinner provided that evening. A shotgun start at noon begins the four-person scramble which consists of 32 teams of four players. There will be several contests throughout the event including a Hole-In-One Contest. Entertainment this year will be provided after golfers have finished their play by T.P. Mulrooney, “The Golf Comic.”  Mulrooney has been featured at the Ryder Cup, Masters, TPC and U.S. Open.

Michael Wall, Executive Director of Fund Development, shared the very special history of the Friends’ Golf Event.

“In 2009, Jonathan Kabbes organized the 1st Annual ‘Golf for a Cure’ to benefit St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. Jonathan wanted to do something to help fight cancer in his community,” he explained.  “For two years he volunteered his time to organize the ‘Golf for a Cure.’ He has teamed with the hospital to host the Friends Golf Benefit, which last year raised over $60,000 for the Hope & Healing Campaign for the Center for Advanced Imaging,” Wall said.  “The Friends were honored to partner with Jonathan to take this fundraiser to the next level.”

Proceeds from this year’s Golf Benefit will support St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s new Hospice Program launching this summer. The goal of Hospice is to bring peace, comfort, and dignity to the patient on those last days of life by making the patient as physically and emotionally comfortable as possible, and enabling the patient to remain at home as long as possible with minimal disruption to normal activities.

There are still openings to register your team for the Friends’ Golf Event. There are also a variety of sponsorships available with many levels to choose from.  The Friends of St. Anthony’s express its thanks to Jacobson & Associates Healthcare Consulting for their Jack Nicklaus level sponsorship.

The Golf Benefit Raffle will return again this year, featuring two (2) French Lick Resort packages for two, four tickets to a Cardinals Baseball Game, four tickets to the Trace Adkins Christmas Show at the Effingham Performance Center, Six Flags St. Louis Gift Basket with four admission tickets, plus several additional items.  Tickets can be purchased by contacting St. Anthony’s Fund Development Office at 347-1854.
