Bulldogs Win St. Teresa Boys Golf Invitational

BLOOMINGTON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School claimed the championship of the St. Teresa Boys Golf Invitational Tuesday at Prairie Vista Golf Club in Bloomington.

The Bulldogs tallied 317 followed by IC Catholic 317, Bloomington Central Catholic 324, Byron 326, Maroa-Forsyth 326, Monticello 328, Anna-Jonesboro 353, Clinton 368 and St. Teresa 399.

Lane Ludwig led the Bulldogs with a 42-35 -- 77 while Jonathan Willenborg followed a stroke back at 39-39 -- 78. Also scoring were Coen Pennington 40-40 -- 80 and Dakota Flaig 40-42 -- 82. Joey Trupiano finished with a 39-43 -- 82 while Charlie Wegman had a 43-45 -- 88.

St. Anthony's junior varsity squad competed in the Raider/Redbird Invitational at Weibring Golf Club in Normal and finished 11th.

Winning the meet was Wheaton Academy 295 followed by Mattoon 310, Macomb 318, Central 320, Peoria-Notre Dame 321, University 325, Mount Zion 327, Limestone 331, Hononegah 331, Assumption 334, St. Anthony 335, Bloomington 335, E. Peoria 348, Richwoods 355, Lincoln 396 and Centennial 426.

Scoring for St. Anthony were Preston Phillips 42-41 -- 83, Ryan Schmidt 41-43 -- 84, Jack Swingler 42-42 -- 84 and Aidan Tegeler 42-42 --84. Non-counting scores were Ethan Karolewicz 45-44 -- 89 and Alec Hakman 53-45 -- 98.

 

At Casey

North Clay (Louisville) competed in golf at the Casey Country Club.

Scoring for the Cardinals were Riley Poe 46, Kennedy Jones 65 and Jacob Arnold 66.
