Tiger Woods won’t be playing in the U.S. Open next week, withdrawing Tuesday and saying his leg that was severely damaged in a February 2021 car crash needs more to time to get stronger.

Woods made a surprise return at the Masters in April, and then played at the PGA Championship in May. But his leg bothered him in both, and he withdrew from the PGA after the third round. Woods said he hopes to play in the British Open.
