The U.S. Golf Association announced Monday that it’s canceling local and sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open, saying it would be too difficult to hold them amid the pandemic. Usually, more than half the field makes it into the tournament through qualifiers.

The U.S. Open was scheduled for June 18-21, but has been postponed until September 17-20.
