Bulldogs Win Boys Golf, EHS Girls Victorious

Effingham St. Anthony claimed a triangular boys golf meet Wednesday at the Richland County Country Club.

The Bulldogs won by 13 strokes over Olney and 34 strokes over Mount Carmel with a 165 total.

Michael Martelli was medalist with a 39 while Ryan Schultz had a 40, Thomas Chojnicki added a 41 and Luke Flaig finished out the top four with a 45.

Also competing for the Bulldogs were Jayden Rios 46, Jonathan Willenborg 46, Darin Hutchison 51 and Aidan Tegeler 52.

Scoring for Olney were Zach Duenas 40, Logan Muston 45, Mitchell Tolliver 45 and Ryan Tolliver 46. Non-counters were Jayden Moyes and Alex Nealis with a 47 each and Will Goodman 54.

Mount Carmel's total of 199 came from Jarrett Wist 46, Isaac Kiefer 46, Gavin Smith 53 and Andrew Goodman 54. Not counting score was a 57 by  Max Zimmerman.

The Bulldogs go undefeated in nine-hole matches and finish with a 9-0 record.

The St. Anthony girls had only three players competing, not enough for a team score. Maddie Brummer finished with a 48 while Cara Hakman had a 49 and Jessica Coffin a 51.

Mount Carmel won the contest with a 180 total. Scoring were medalist Lillian Gottman with a 42, Mady Young 45, Allison Armstrong 45 and Faith Witsman 48. Non-counters were Daisy Schrader 49 and Nevich Brock 57.

Olney tallied a 229. Scoring were Madeline McKinney 45, Taylor Runyon 60, Rayne Goff 61 and Caroline Glover 63. Non-counter was Kali Hinterscher 69.

 

At Effingham

The Effingham girls golf squad celebrated Senior Night with a 175-255 win over Sullivan Wednesday.

Ava Boehm was medalist with a 38 followed by Kennedy Collier 40, Morgan Krouse 42 and Madi Stortzum 55. Non-counting scores were Anna Sigg 60 and Jaelyn Boone 61. Anna Hirtzel played exhibition and tallied a 61.

Saying goodbye were seniors Collier, Boone, Krouse and Stortzum.

Scoring for Sullivan were Mariah Booker 60, Erin Wallace 61, Alyssa Shriver 67 and Lara Herschberger 67. Non-counters were Morgan Moll 67 and Abby Kirkwood-Ray 69.

In the boys golf meet, the Hearts had a tough opponent in unbeaten Sullivan.

The Redskins continued their winnings ways with a 166-176 tally over the Hearts.

Rogers shot a 39 to medalist for the Redskins. Also scoring were Westjohn 40, Ellis 43 and Short 44. Non-counters were Hershberger 44 and Dwyer 55.

The Hearts were led by Aiden Beck with a 42. Also scoring were Austin Waldhoff 44, Ryker Schneider 45 and Ben Donsbach 45. Non-counting scores were Tate Niebrugge 47, Nick Burgess 52, Ethan Ritz 56, Colby Haynes 60 and David Splechter 53.

Sullivan improved to 22-0 while Effingham dropped to 5-2. The Hearts are back in action today hosting Casey-Westfield.
