EHS Girls Finish Ahead Of MZ, Pana; Golf Roundup

Effingham High School picked up a girls golf victory over Mount Zion and Pana Tuesday.

 

The Hearts scored a 163 followed by Mount Zion 215 and Pana 232.

Medalist was Effingham's Morgan Krouse with a 35. Also scoring were Ava Boehm and Kennedy Collier with a 38 each and Anna Sigg with a 52. Non-counters were Jaelyn Boone 54 and Anna Hirtzel 59.

Scoring for Mount Zion were Madlynn Lutt 51, Riley Houser 53, Lauren Kybure 54 and Addison Rhoades 57. Non-counters were Bethany Warner 58 and Kenzie Shumate 59.

Scoring for the Panthers were Anna Beyers 52, Kassie Weideman 53, Kasey Swisher 58 and Kylie Hendrickson 59. Non-counter was Chloe Hendrickson 64.

 

At Effingham

Charleston picked up a 152-164 win over Effingham at the Effingham Country Club in boys golf action Tuesday.

Charleston's Wolfe was medalist with a 37. Also scoring were Z. Will 38, J. Will 38 and Becker 39. Non-counters were Smith 43 and Drake 45.

Effingham was led by Tate Niebrugge 38, Austin Waldhoff 40, Aiden Beck 41 and Ben Donsbach 46. Non-counters were Ethan Ritz 46, Nick Burgess 49, Colby Haynes 54 and David Splechter 56.

The Hearts suffered their first loss and drop to 5-1. Charleston now sports an 11-1 record. EHS returns to action today hosting Sullivan.

"We shot our best round of the year for our dual matches, but lost to a very good Charleston team," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Tate continued his good play with a 38 and Austin had one of his best rounds with a 40. We need to really start putting it together these next two weeks as regionals approach."

 

At Teutopolis

Robinson edged Teutopolis 178-181 in boys golf competition Thursday at Cardinal Golf Course.

Drew Kerner shot a 43 to lead the Wooden Shoes. Also scoring were Andy Niebrugge 44, Zach Ruholl 46 and Peyton Tegler 48.

Non-counters were Gavin Meyer 49, Gabe Schlink 51, Kayden Zerrusen 58, Paul Niemerg 63, Gage Wendt 67 and Nick Buehnekemper 70.

Robinson's Johnson was medalist with a 41. Also scoring were Weber 43, Middleton 47 and Maxwell 47. Non-counters were Printable 49, Blayne 62 and Wright 63.
