St. A Boys, Girls Nab Windsor Invite

The Effingham St. Anthony High School boys and girls golf squads picked up the championship at the Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Hatchet Invitational Saturday.

The Bulldogs won the boys meet with 316 followed by Sullivan 319, Arcola 350, Effingham 352, Casey-Westfield 367, Altamont 371, Litchfield 386, Okaw Valley 386, Shelbyville 388, Teutopolis 396 and Heyworth 448.

St. Anthony's Ryan Schultz tallied a 76 followed by Thomas Chojnicki 80, Jonathan Willenborg 80 and Jayden Rios 83. Non-counters were Luke Flaig 90 and Michael Martelli 92.

Altamont competed and tallied a 386. Scoring were Kevin Hall 83, Tyler Stonecipher 95, Bryton Pruett 97 and Tyler Stuckemeyer 111. Non-counter was Tyler Schuppert 121.

T-town had a 388. Scoring were Drew Kerner 85, Andy Niebrugge 88, Gabe Schlink 97 and Peyton Tegler 118.

St. Anthony won the girls meet with a score of 325 while Effingham finished second at Fox Prairie Golf Course. The Hearts tallied a 358.

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Macy Ludwig, who was first overall, with a 76, Morgan Schuette 78, Ellie Wegman 84 and Lauren Schwing 87. The Bulldogs had a split squad with the other team competing at Salem.

Scoring for EHS were Ava Boehm 83, Kennedy Collier 88, Morgan Krouse 88 and Jaelyn Boone 99. Non-counters wre Anna Sigg 103 and Anna Hetzel 123.

Altamont had one player score,  Isabelle Hosick with a 101.

 

At Salem

 

Breese Central captured the championship of the Salem Match Play Tournament Saturday with 15 points.

Following in second was Effingham St. Anthony 14 while Teutopolis took third with 13.5 points. Centralia finished fourth with 7.5 and Salem fifth with 5.

Two St. Anthony golfers won their match. Jessica Coffin finished scoring four points in her match. Cara Hakman was a winner also scoring four points in her match.

Other Bulldog players competing were Nina Hakman who scored second in her match for three points and Maddy Brummer who also took second in her match, also scoring three points.

T-town's Averie Bushue won her match play for four points.

Abigail Wortman took second in her match for three points. Maggie Koester and Alaina Helmink were both third in their matches for two points each.
