St. Anthony First, EHS Second At Girls Scramble

St. Anthony claimed first place at the Charleston Scramble.

CHARLESTON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School captured first place while Effingham took second at the Charleston Nine-Hole Golf Scramble Monday.

The Bulldogs won with a team score of 73. The duo of Macy Ludwig and Ellie Wegman shot a one-under score of 35 to lead the way. The team of Lauren Schwing and Morgan Schuette shot a 38 as the other counting score. Ludwig and Wegman also won individual medals finishing in second place.

Reagan Westendorf and Nina Hakman shot a 39 for the non-counting score.

Effingham claimed second place, just a point behind St. Anthony with a 74. Scoring for the Hearts were Ava Boehm and Kennedy Collier with a 37, Morgan Krouse and Jaelyn Boone with a 37 and Madilyn Stortzum and Anna Sigg with a 58.

Teutopolis competed and finished with a 92 total. Averie Bushue and Abigail Wortman shot a 41 while Maggie Koester and Alaina Helmink shot a 51. Mollie Koester shot a 69.

Mattoon finished third with a 78 followed by Charleston 82, Champaign Central 85, T-town, Mount Zion 93, Mahomet-Seymour 95, Sullivan 104, Pana 109 and Decatur Eisenhower 130. Paris and Salem had individual players competing.

Mattoon's Kira Wolf and Kenzie Bratton finished No. 1 with a 33. The Bulldogs Ludwig and Wegman were second with a 35 followed by Salem's Lauren Ice/Kenzie Anderson with a 36. Effingham's Krouse and Boone took fourth with a 37 and Collier and Boehm were fifth with a 37.

The Hearts finished second at the Charleston Scramble.
