A crowd of family, friends and past players greeted the State Champion St. Anthony Bulldogs boys golf team Sunday afternoon at the Enlow Center.

The Bulldogs won the championship by six strokes Saturday, posting a 318 team total.

Bulldogs Coach Phil Zaccari said he thought a 320 score just might get the Bulldogs a title. St. Anthony finished earlier in the day than other hopefuls, and as they watched those squads fall by the wayside, Zaccari said they felt the championship would be theirs.

Our Greg Sapp sat down with Zaccari after the Welcome Home ceremony for this conversation...

St. Anthony squad members are seniors Alex Erickson, Luke Ludwig, Nathan Schultz, Ben Strullmyer and Zach Wortman; juniors Luke Flaig, Darin Hutchison, Jayden Rios and Ryan Schultz; and freshman Thomas Chojnicki.

St. Anthony had a lot to celebrate over the weekend. In addition to the boys state championship, Ava Wegman of St. Anthony finished 12th in the Girls State Golf Tournament, and the St. Anthony/Sacred Heart cross country team finished fourth at the junior high state tournament.
