EHS Boys, Girls, Altamont, T-town Nab Golf Wins

MATTOON -- Effingham High School claimed a triangular girls golf victory over Effingham St. Anthony and Mattoon Thursday at the Mattoon Country Club.

Mattoon's Kira Wolf was medalist with a 38. Effingham's Abbi Burgess took second with a 44. Also scoring for the winning Hearts were Morgan Krouse 44, Ava Boehm 46 and Kennedy Collier 48. Non-counters were Keira Hirtzel 51, Anna Sigg 55, Makayla Allie 59, Jaelyn Boone 66 and Shelby Stone 67.

Scoring for St. Anthony were Claire McHugh 46, Ava Wegman 47, Macy Ludwig 48 and Morgan Schuette 48. Non-counting scores were Regan Westendorf 49 and Ellie Wegman 52.

Scorning for Mattoon were Wolf 38, Callan Haldersen 52, Haleigh Miller 52 and Syidney Alee 56. Non-counters were Meah Butler 65 and Hannah Retzer 69.

 

At Casey

Effingham tallied a 168-180 victory over host Casey-Westfield Thursday.

Medalist was Effingham's Aiden Beck with a 39. Tate Niebrugge took second with a 41. Also scoring for the Hearts were Ryker Schneider 44 and Ben Donsbach 44. Non-counting scores were Austin Waldhoff 51, Ethan Ritz 59 and Nick Burgess 62.

Scoring for Casey-Westfield were Payne Austin 44, Troy Huisinga 45, Garrett Oakley 45 and Ashton Rodgers 46. Non-counters were Ethan Hickox 47 and Hayden Orrell 61.

"The boys played their best round to date this year," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Tate and Ryker all had their lowest nine hole match scores of the season and Ben Donsbach has really come on lately. We have improved a ton."

The Hearts improve to 5-6.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis hosted Windsor and Shelbyville at Cardinal Golf Course Thursday and claimed a win.

The Shoes were victorious with a 179 followed by Shelbyville 188. Windsor had only three golfers.

Jacob Herd and Carter Jansen had a 43 each while Asa Hanson had a 45 and Zach Ruholl a 48. Non-counters were Andy Niebrugge 50 and Drew Kerner 51.

Competing for Shelbyville were Leach, who was medalist with a 41, Evans 45, Stauder 51, Dove 51, Billingsley 54, Burrell 55 and Miller 57.

Windsor's scorers were Stremming 47, Howard 50 and Reel 63.

The Wooden Shoes girls squad downed Salem in action at T-town Thursday, 191-207.

Allie Niebrugge shot a 42 to lead the way. Also scoring were Maddie Hoene 47, Averie Bushue 48 and Mattie Thoele 54. Non-counters were Maggie Koester 59 and Macy Vogt 65.

 

At Ramsey

Altamont claimed a 178-196 win over Ramsey Thursday.

Grant Schmidt was medalist for the Indians with a 41. Also scoring were Tyler Stonecipher 43, Kevin Hall 46 and Addie Smith 48.

Scoring for Ramsey were Hadley Seaton 44, Marc Grigoroff 46, Dallas Sneddon 48 and Hayden Seaton 58. Non-counters were Matt Lay 61 and AJ Halford 66.

Altamont girls were Isabella Hosick 57 and Megan Williams 63. Ramsey girls were Kourtney Jansse 48, Cecelia Ritter 48, Samantha Stoke 50, Kianna Shouse 51 and Brooke Benhoff 58.

Altamont now sports an 11-5 record.

 

At St. Anthony

St. Anthony claimed a boys junior varsity win over Mattoon Thursday., 170-226.

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Thomas Chojnicki who was medalist with a 40, Alex Erickson 41, Ryan Schultz 44 and Darin Hutchison 45.
