CSS Holds 26th Annual Charity Golf Classic

Weber Optiks won the First Flight.

On Friday, July 27, Community Support Systems held its 26th Annual Charity Golf Classic at Meadowview Golf Course in Mattoon. The event was co-sponsored by Jansen Computers, Washington Savings Bank, Weber Optiks and Financial Logic.

Thirty teams entered the best-ball scramble which was divided into three flights. The first Flight winner was the Weber Optiks team made up of Tony Weber, Ernie Weber, Chris Weber, Darren Beccue and Tyler Ziegler. The second Flight winners were the Bloemer’s Team; Jerry and Cathy Bloemer, Janet Hardiek, Tom Brady and Bernie Sandschafer. The Dan Hecht Team made up of Bob Hecht, Charlie White, Russel Higgs, Dave Stewart and Roger Ellington won the third Flight.

The Bogus Sign competition was sponsored by Weber’s Jewelry. Joe Friemuth’s entry was the first correct answer drawn for a $100 Weber’s Jewelry gift certificate.

There were seven hole-competitions won by Clayton Hinton, Jami Brown, Nathan Garbe, Marilee Funneman, Donnie Swingler, Brad Gouchenouer and Charlie White.

Each winner received a $50 gift card to the Meadowview Gift Shop. Sponsors for the hole competitions were Brumleve Industries, Dust & Sons Auto Supply, Financial Logic, 1st Mid Bank & Trust, Jake Donsbach-Country Financial, Meyer Oil Co, Professional Medical, RV Evans and ServPro. There was also a putting contest where 18 golfers made Tic Tac Toe. Names were drawn for a winner and Neil Zerrusen won Cardinals Baseball tickets donated by SISCO.

At the Challenge Hole golfers purchased chanced for an Entertainment Chest donated my Wright’s Furniture and Flooring or a 50” Smart TV donated by the Effingham New Car Dealers. If the golfer hit the green when teeing off they doubled their tickets. Ron Burke won the TV and Wes Duckett received the entertainment chest.

Each person who purchased a mulligan was entered into a drawing and the winners were Sasha Hollman, Tyler Ziegler, Jerry Bloemer, Michelle Arnold, Chris Weber, Joe Springer, Alan Meyer, Jordan Kocher, Matt Hortinstine, Jeff Richards, Jeff Kistler & Brad Gouchenouer. Prizes donated by Accuracy Firearms, Cardinal Golf Course, County Line Shooting Center, Doug McCain Bar-B-Q Sauce, Firefly Grill, Fore-Way-Golf, Meadowview Golf Course, Oak Terrace Resort & Puerto Vallarta.

At the end of play the golfers enjoyed a meal made possible by EJ Water, Doug McCain BBQ Sauce, Dr. John & Carol Gapsis, EJ Water, Kountry Kitchen, Lorenz Supply, Mike & Judy Poe, Niemerg’s Steakhouse and P & M Oil.

The Bloemers claimed first place in the Second Flight.

The Hechts captured first place in the Third Flight.
