(LUKE LUDWIG FOLLOWING HIS QUALIFYING ROUND IN BELLEVILLE FOR THE US JUNIOR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP)

St. Anthony High School student Luke Ludwig has qualified for the 2018 US Junior Amateur Golf Tournament.

Ludwig, a senior-to-be at St. Anthony, qualified through his performance at St. Clair Country Club in Belleville. Ludwig's father, Jeff, said Luke fired a three under 68 and was one of just two of the 55 golfers at the qualifier to advance to the national tournament. The other qualifier was a golfer from Dallas, Texas, who shot a four under 67.

There will only be 150 players in the field for the US Junior Amateur. The event will be held at Baltusrol Golf Club (the upper and lower courses) in Springfield, New Jersey July 16-21. Baltusrol has been the scene many times for PGA and LPGA events, including several majors.

The US Junior Amateur is open to any male competitor who has not reached his 19th birthday as of July 21 and whose Handicap Index does not exceed 4.4.

Jeff Ludwig said Luke will get to play a practice round, then will play 36 holes in competition, then will be in match play to determine the champion.

Jeff Ludwig said Tiger Woods won the Junior Amateur three times and Jordan Spieth is a past winner, so this is a pretty exciting opportunity.

Jeff and his wife Jami are Luke's mom and dad.
