Flora defeated Effingham 157 to 167 in a boys golf dual match at Flora Tuesday, but the match featured a much-improved performance from the Hearts.

The 167 total is Effingham's best score of the season, led by Jacob Sigg who shot a 37. Aiden Beck and Brett Koester each fired a 43, Colby Heaton a 44, and Tate Niebrugge and Ryan Sandifer each a 45.

Hearts Coach Jeff Schafer said, "We shot our best score of the year. As disappointed as I was with (Monday's) effort at (the Apollo) conference (Tournament), I am that happy today as three of our players shot the very best rounds of their careers. Jacob (Sigg) finally went low and Colby (Heaton) and Brett (Koester) had the best rounds of their careers, so far. I am proud of the way we have continued to improve all year and how we have worked to get better."

Flora was not to be denied, with two players under 40...Landon Carder with a 36 and Kimnell with a 37. Woodson shot a 40 and Warren a 44 to finish out the Flora counters.

Effingham is now 7-5 on the season, with action Saturday at the Taylorville Invitational. Effingham hosts the Regional at Effingham Country Club next Tuesday.
