EHS Wins Girls Golf Regional, St. Anthony Second, Both Advance

Effingham High School won the girls regional golf championship Wednesday, while St. Anthony High School finished second.

Both will advance to sectional competition at Salem Monday, October 10.

EHS won the regional with a 367 team total, while St. Anthony finished second with a 374. Mount Carmel took third with 411 and will also advance. Teutopolis finished just out of the teams advancing with a 425 but will have three players advancing. Other teams following the leaders were Centralia 440, Oblong 445, Salem 464, Robinson 477 and Sandoval 490.

Advancing for the Hearts are Alex Brummer, who was medalist for the day, with a 79, Keira Hirtzel 89, Abbi Burgess 99, Jade Depoister 100, Lindsey Stephenson 102 and Kennedy Collier 108.

Advancing for St. Anthony were Ava Wegman 91, Abbie Schmidt 91, Clare McHugh 92, Regan Koester 100, Jessica Coffin 103 and Abby Repking 115.

Individuals advancing were T-town's Madison Magee 100, Madeline Hoene 101 and Allie Niebrugge 105. Others advancing were Nyah Laino (Oblong) 90, Brook Nossett (Centralia), 97, Maggie Cross (Oblong) 98, Katelyn Leggitt (Oblong) 98, Leanna Ferguson (Robinson) 101, Lexi Sligar (Centrali) 106 and Abby Ferris (Robinson) 106.

St. Anthony captured second and will advance to sectional play Monday. Members of the team are Regan Koester, Ava Wegman, Abbie Schmidt, Clare McHugh, Abby Repking and Coach Emily Konrad.
