St. A, Sacred Heart Jr. High Golfers Advance to State

Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School has boys and girls advancing to the State Golf Tournament in Peoria while Effingham Sacred Heart has three girls advancing.

Advancing to State, and their sectional scores, for St. Anthony were: Macy Ludwig fourth place with 54-47 -- 101, Regan Westendorf eighth place with 53-51 -- 104, Morgan Schuette ninth place with 50-55 -- 105, Ellie Wegman 15th place with 66-49 -- 115 and Lauren Schwing 17th place with 57-65 -- 122.

Advancing from Sacred Heart were Ava Boehm fifth place with 51-51 -- 102, Nina Hakman 17th place with 66-56 -- 122, and Cara Hakman 20th place with 62-69 -- 131. Ada Rozene also competed at Sectional and finished in 25th place with 85-76 -- 161.

Two St. Anthony boys also advanced, Jonathan Willenborg eighth place with 46-46 -- 92 and Thomas Chojnicki 17th place with 55-48 -- 103. Also competing were Angelo Mendella 19th place with 56-51 -- 107, Caleb Schwing 23rd place with 55-55 -- 110 and Michael Martelli 32nd with 67-68 -- 135.

Competing from Sacred Heart in the boys sectional was Joel Buenker who finished 37th with 84-68 -- 152.

St. Anthony's Thomas Chojnicki (right) and Jonathan Willenborg (left) will be competing at State.

Sacred Heart golfers headed to state are Ava Boehm, Cara Hakman, and Nina Hakman. Ada Rozene also competed at Sectional.
