MATTOON -- Barrington High School won the championship of the Mattoon Boys Golf Invitational Saturday.

Barrington tallied 597 followed by Morton 608, Alton Marquette 614, Normla U-High 618, Pekin 628, Normal 628, Normal West 634, Edwardsville 635, Quincy 638, Champaign Central 639, Charleston 640, Mattoon 640, St. Anthony 665, Mount Carmel 673, East Peoria 676, Herrin 677, Massac County 677, Chatham Glenwood 686, Teutopolis 691, Bloomington 695, Mahomet-Seymour 695, Danville 695, Effingham 700, Springfield 707, Sacred Heart Griffin 708, Centennial 708, Monticello 722, Rantoul PBL 741, St. Thomas More 752, Taylorville 753, Lincoln 754, Urbana 768, Paris 772, Lawrenceville 792 and Mount Zion 808.

"We are continuing to make strides," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "We were very close to having four scores in the 80's or less today which is much better. Callaway had a very solid tournament with two rounds in the 70's with a 79 and a 77. Matt had a good weekend with two rounds in the 80's. Ryan and Jacob showed some flashes and the freshmen, Tate and Aiden did okay. They just have to keep playing and learning and strive to keep getting better."

Morton's Tommy Kuhl was medalist with a 70-70 -- 140 total.

Competing for St. Anthony were Luke Ludwig 81-77 -- 158, Dylan Ferguson 88-79 -- 167, Jacob Schmidt 84-86 -- 170, Niko Dust 87-84 -- 171, Nathan Schultz 89-85 -- 174 and Trey Koester 95-91 -- 186.

Competing for Effingham were Callaway Smith 79-77 -- 156, Matt Linders 86-87 -- 173, Jacob Sigg 94-93 -- 187, Ryan Sandifer 105-89 -- 194, Tate Niebrugge 95-107 -- 202 and Aiden Beck 108-107 -- 215.

Competing for Teutopolis were Keegan Meyer 85-83 -- 168, Dylan Buenker 86-84 -- 170, Christian Deters 94-81 -- 175, Brayden Bushue 93-85 -- 178, Jacob Herd 102-88 -- 190 and Will Schlink 98-99 -- 197.
